jailbreak gone bad sesh

July 15th, 2010

I finally got time away from my busy schedule and decided to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS and see what the fuss is all about. I really wanted to do this, not only because I would have the opportunity to have alot of free apps but also for the fun of it.

Unfortunately I had upgraded to the latest OS 4, and there is no stable jailbreak as far as I am concerned, so I had the huge task of finding out how to downgrade to os 3.1.3. Well, as you could have imagined, apple did not intend for you or me to go back to a previous operating system,so this process in its entirely is a hack! It is like making a deal with the devil, there is no way out!

Now, downgrading for me was perhaps the most hectic thing I did last weekend (trying to make lasagne came a close 2nd ) at one point during this operation I was convinced that I had bricked my phone and I had already started [ READ MORE ]

An Android device for ¥9,600 (£72)? Yes, please.

New MacBook Air Might Arrive Very Soon

May 11th, 2010

Ok, I have to admit, i am not a big mac fun mainly because i fall into the category of people who know too much about computers, I am more of a PC guy, dont get me wrong, I am not saying I am a windows fun, but since I am Linux mad, I belive I am more inclined to PCs than MACs. Anyway, despite my preference, the news of the new MackBook air has got me jumping. Like any technology freak, the MacBook air is the maveric, it has done to computing what the Motorola RAZER did to the mobile world — it slimmed it down considerably without impact on performance.

First ARM powered “smart book”

March 8th, 2010

13266_SkylightThere has been quite alot of interest surroundly ARM lately, personally because I am in the process of looking for a job with them, but thats besides the point. In a field heavily treaded by intel, the semiconductor IP licensing company has come up with a processor that powers the latest lenovo skylight “smart book”. I took a peek at this device at CES (on the web ofcourse!) and I was utterly fascinated by its design.

February 5th, 2010

w7_logo_It’s official: Microsoft got it right this time. After the mistake that was Vista, Windows 7 was greeted like the second coming, and it many ways it really was better than its predecessor: less annoying, faster, smoother, more compatible with various pieces of hardware and software, and lets not forget about the games compatibility, its surely is something!

Initial sales numbers and market share reports have shown that Windows 7 is on the right track, but today it’s obvious that it will be one of the most successful products in Windows history, as it already caught 10 percent market share approximately three months after it arrived on the market.
